Exclamation newbie question

Hello gentlemen !
I have a problem that I been trying to figure out for about 2 months now hope you guys can help ! It is a 2000 jeep cherokee sport 4x4 . It keeps throwing the code po353 ignition coil c primary/secondary circiut . I have replaced coil pack and spark plugs ! coil pack twice twice with a new one . I have taken to the shop and they have told it is the coil pack is bad . Could 3 coil packs be bad ? I disconnect the negative battery cable and leave it off for about an hour at a time . Then I drive it about 6-8 miles with no problem then engine light comes on . And it misses . I can not come up with a solution . Any help would be greatly appreciated ! thank you in advance !
Thanks,Brad

[QUOTE=welderman1969;1429332]Hello gentlemen
"I have replaced coil pack and spark plugs"
What plugs? Some Jeeps like champion copper plus best.
"I have taken to the shop and they have told it is the coil pack is bad . Could 3 coil packs be bad?
Possible I guess, but I doubt it.
"I disconnect the negative battery cable and leave it off for about an hour at a time."
If you're trying to clear the codes, i've seen various tips on doing that.. best to clear 'em with a scanner(free at AZone Oreilley etc)
From what you've said so far, I would replace the plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor.. but I do tend to throw parts at a problem

Sounds to me like it's a potential PCM problem. The PCM has drivers for each individual trigger circuit in the coil pack and it's common for one driver to fail for one cylinder. Since you have replaced the pack 3 times i would lean towards the PCM.

The coil pack XJ's called for NGK copper plugs, not champion coppers like the distributor based systems fyi.

It may be a security problem where the used PCM you have doesn't recognize the vin number. And would need to be reprogrammed in order for it too keep the jeep running

Dealerships can do it and some small independent shops can. I know my shop has the ability to do it. But worst case scenario you may have to have the PCM sent out and be programmed.
