98 XJ, AW4. I've seen threads with either or of these but nothing really with both. I've got the P0700 and 0758 codes.

Symptoms: Randomly and fairly frequently I'll lose my 1st geae and OD. Shifting manually works for 1st. Sometimes restarting fixes it, sometimes not. Sometimes it works for days/miles, other times it off and on the whole day regardless of operating temperature.

Fluid has been checked and changed. TPS has been changed with OEM. NSS has been pulled and cleaned. Plastic case cracked around bolt holes and I gorilla glued it back together before putting back. Cleaned the gray and black tranny connectors near the dipstick. Grounds have been cleaned and/or look good. Wiring looks good everywhere I've seen except a bit of exposed wire near gray NSS connector near dipstick (gotta figure out what to do with that).

Could the TCM itself be the culprit? Should I get a new NSS? I didn't think it's Solenoids because both symptoms either happen together or not at all.

Just read your thread... I'm about to get a parts donor jeep and I'll swap out the TCM when I do. I'm pretty sure that it's not the solenoids because it's too much of a coincidence for both solenoids to always go out at the same time. Do you have 1st gear? Do yours work sporadically or not at all?
