I'm going to check for any codes today, i'm afraid my dash light may have went out Solenoid replacement looks like a good idea! I found a kit on ebay, i read on a forum that its an OEM replacment with an updated design. They sell them on their website for 2x the price. Here you are: http://www.ebay.com/itm/A340-AW4-Transmission-Master-Solenoid-Service-Kit-Filter-Shift-Tcc-Lock-Up-Jeep-/131107789801?hash=item1e86a21be9&vxp=mtr

you just drop the pan and bolt in the new one. Pretty simple. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/a.../topics/717206

If you are going to drop the pan to do the solenoids,, might as well do the filter/screen since its right there.
But I will leave this here for ppl to read about the AW4 filter/screen.. post 19 and on.

Did you get yours fixed. I did mine today. Man the oil pan is a B$&ch to get off when it's never been taken off before.
It shifts nice and smooth now.

I'm just getting ready to order mine. Probably do it next week. What size were the bolts? 10mm? And how about the dip stick tube?

The pan bolts are 10mm. The dip stick tube is hard to get apart. I just unbolted the bracket holding it to the bell housing. It's a 13mm bolt. Be carful putting it back in if you do take it off. I broke the oil pressure sending unit with my ratchet.

UPDATE
Replaced all three transmission solenoids in 3 hours. Shifts smooth as butter now. Make sure to have a wobble extension handy while taking off some of those pan bolts!

Shifting at 4600rpm, is that by design? Mine stays in 1st too, but I've never revved it to more than 3000 rpm though.

Are you having any issues or just curious on the topic?

Having issues. And I've read both that it will only shift to 2nd at high rpm, and also that replacing Solenoid 1&2 fixed the issue and things are back to shifting smooth. I don't know what to believe, but my common sense (or maybe lack thereof) tells me that it shouldn't take 40mph or 4600 rpm to shift to 2nd. What I miss is it shifting to second while off-roading where I can use the engine as a break to regulate my speed going down hill, but instead it stays in 1st and revs really high and keeps me crawling down a hill.
