No BUS
well when i started my jeep everything was ok... few seconds later the rpms and mph go to 0 and im like wtf..... but it is still running (check engine light and airbag light is on)
i drive it a few hundred feet and i press the odometer button and it comes back on like normal...
i get on I-79 and drive it goes, off again but just for a few seconds... i dont do anything to it... wtf?
last time this happened it would run and shutoff....
but i got it home and shut it off turned it back on just fine.....
wtf?
how do i fix this?

I have had the same problem with my XJ. More then likely it is a loose connection behind the instrument panel. I have never fixed mine. Just to lazy to do it. All I do when it happens is give it a light hit on the dash and it always comes back on for me.

If the engine continues to run when this symptom occurs, the problem is with the cluster.
Recommended fix is to remove the cluster, thoroughly clean the connectors with electrical contact cleaner, add a generous dab of dielectric grease, reconnect, reinstall and cross your fingers.
