No bus code
2001 xj, only happens once in a while but no bus comes up then speedo, tack, and fuel gauge drop to zero. Usually lasts a couple minutes before coming back on. Other than dirty connection what could it be? Not great with electrical

I've seen 2 things. Check the connections behind the dash cluster and also clean the connections. The second I've heard is change the crank sensor.

a no bus code usually is tied into your clock spring. same symptoms with gauges going out, and your cruise won't work. neither should your horn.
common issue with our newer xj's. the clock spring is in the steering wheel, behind the air bag. i keep a spare one for my 01. it's not a case of if it will ever go, but when.

From what I have read IF it starts with it its the connectors on backside of dash cluster. If it does not start then electrical issues grounds (G100 or G101 usually), sensor etc..check this link out.. Good luck fixing it, Mine did it yesterday for the first time but when I hit a bump it fixed it...loose connector on mine it looks like.
