When I did the battery cable upgrade I used the '99 harness I yanked out of a boneyard Jeep for a guide.
And as yet have not put in my higher amp alt in. Wanted to run with just the cables for awhile to make sure everything was OK.
And have not removed my old battery cables yet either.
Everything is just ziptied out of the way at the moment. LOL.
So if I have an unused connector like that on mine I am not aware of it yet.
Hmm, ok. I will have to keep digging. Thanks for the assist
Assuming they are the same, my 97 has a similar looking connector next to and just below the battery, that is connected to another harness that passes thru the front bulkhead to the headlight area. Unless what i am seeing is the small connector for the headlights, but i dont remember it being that close to the battery.

Mind taking a picture or having a look when possible?!
I poured through every pinout in the hard copy of my '01 FSM.
I think it is the AC high pressure switch connector.
The connector on the back of the compressor? I thought that was only a 2 pin connector? White and round. My 97 is different, then.

I took a closer look, and stand corrected. What i found is for the battery temp sensor. The wires leading to it were hidden under the main harness, and go under the battery tray. Yours must be a 98 and up thing then, because my 97 doesnt have any other connector in that area that match.
Looks like Ralph figured it out. Definitely a different connector than my 97, which is factory. Learned something new today.
