no communications when plugging in the scanner
So I hydro locked my 2000 xj about 2 weeks ago. i pulled the plugs cranked the water out replaced plugs and it fired up. it ran but not very good. i flushed the motor, trans, and transfer case. still gotta drain diffs. Ive was driving it the past week just fine but then it just turned off when i was driving. now it cranks but wont start. Then i saw that ( NO BUS) Popped up where the odometer is. When i plugged in my scanner it said no communications. I checked the fuses and the one for the fuel pump stopped working idk why. I jumped the connection to get the pump to run and it still didn't start. Plugged the scanner in again and still said no communications. I'm pretty baffled by this and don't really know what to do. is No bus the death code or something.

Did you check for spark?
If no spark I would try the resistance test in the Bleepin' Jeep video for the CPS.
I want to say that a possible CPS tell tale could be a NO BUS.
I did not have one when mine went but I believed my problem to be thermal failure of the CPS.

A bad sensor (or sensor connection) such as the crankshaft position sensor can cause a no-bus condition. What do you observe with the fuel level gauge and voltmeter when this is happening?
But this can also be caused when the dash assembly starts to lose good ground connection to the chassis. The Chrysler Collision Detection bus depends on the dash having good ground connections to the chassis to function properly. When communication can't be established on this set of wires, the no-bus indicator will appear. Given that you just recently flooded the vehicle, I would think this possibility is in play as well. The initial moisture would not necessarily cause the failure in ground connections, but as it sits and corrodes for a couple of weeks, it certainly could get to this point. Especially if some of the connections were marginal to begin with. Down on the lower right (passenger side) there is a large-ish bolt that secures the dash assembly to the body. This bolt is one of the main ground paths back to battery negative.
You can see what I mean at about the 32 minute mark in the following video:

Waiting for parts.
Thanks for the response. I ordered a new cps because that seems to be the easiest thing to do before ripping the dash off. I checked for spark it has it.

You indicate some fuel pump concerns ?..is it getting 12V and earth ?...does it buzz for 2 secs when key is set to run ?
There is a recent post that shows the OBD2 port pin layout..shows where to check for earth and +ve
these cavities can be probed with a paperclip

I haven’t checked for spark yet. Me and my friends were checking fuses and things like that. The fuel pump didn’t run at all when we would turn the key on. But once we jumped the connections we got it to run. When the dash read no bus everyone jumped to the fuse box
