A few weeks ago I had to do the dreaded steering column disassembly in order to tighter the bolts that hold the steering column to the dash. Aside from being a gruesome job, upon completion everything appeared to be working normally (took the opportunity while I was in there to replace the signal light lever which had broken cruise-control wires). Last night however, the first time that I happen to drive the jeep after dark, I found I had no dash lights or running lamps but everything else including: dome light (using the headlight switch), clock, radio, brake and headlights are working fine. I made a quick inspection of all the fuses and they all appear to be good. Pulled the headlight switch which also appears to be in working order (replaced some time in the last couple of years). No obvious loose or corroded connectors. I'm a bit stumped and the wiring diagram I have is a bit tough to follow as it's a multi-page photocopy.

Anyone else experience missing dash lights after fixing the steering column?

OK. Problem solved. It was a fuse after all. Curiously enough, there's a 5 amp fuse marked: INST LPS, presumably Instrument Lamps, and a 10amp marked: PARK LPS, presumably Parking Lamps. The Parking Lamp fuse visually looked fine but electrically was an open circuit. Popped in a new fuse and all is good.
