If your using this vehicle for on road use also, check your state laws. I know some states like florida do not require flares up to a certain width. But in states like Pennsylvania the flare MUST cover the tire. If your using this vehicle strictly for off road, then do whatever the heck you want. I think it looks a little better with flares than without but that's a personal preference.

I know that cut-out style flares are pricey, but I have run no flares and It makes sooo much more of a mess. I like to ride through the mud, but don't need it all over my rig to prove I was there. I like to be able to spin it hard with my windows down and not eat a few shovels full...

Ther are cheaper alternatives like using stock TJ flares. RUsty's put their flex flares on sale a good bit.
and.... if you cut the front fenders, they are VERY flimsy after and flares add some rigidity...

just my 2 cents...

once you take them off, if you are not cutting the fenders there is a bracket that is riveted to the fenders all way around the wheel opening. If you remove it, there will be holes. If you leave it, it looks funky. Once you take the fenders off, they are wicked hard to put back on.

Make sure you know what direction ur going with this. Maybe try taping them off and painting them first???

Most jeeps with no fenders are made for off-road... This allows them to wear larger tires and gain more clearance to get rid of rubbing... Really depends on purpose...

my two cents worth is if your going to go mudding that is what your there to do regardless of flares or no flares and of your worried about mud on your rig get a cobalt sorry for the interruption i just cant stand pre madonas

I don't like the Mexican truck look with no flares, so i'll be hacking on some rear TJ flares to round off some edges, so to speak. Like stated before, just personal preference.

I've trimmed the inside on mine a good bit with a utility knife. No more rub and the flares still look good...good enough, anyway.

I run no flares on my DD/trail rig and love it. The tires don't rub and if you go mudding with or with out flares your jeeps gonna get muddy. If you are going to go flareless cut the front flare mount holes on the fender off with a grinder or dremel and cut and fold the rear so you don't cut the spot welds. I live in MA and the law here says that you are allowed 3" of tire to be uncovered. I'm at about 3.5" front and 2.5" rear and don't expect any problems
