Looks like that piece touches the column next to the large bolt. Not sure if grounding here is what completes the circuit to engage high beams or what purpose that would serve.

Looks like red wire and red/ orange are the two high beam wires at the large connector. I think it is C106.

Also did you check the connectors that plug into the headlights? Have had issues with corrosion there on other vehicles.

I am seeing something that the hazard and high beams have in common. Just not sure what to make of it. They both are listed with C100 connector. Pics to follow.

Headlamps. See the box that says instrument cluster? It also says high beam input. It runs through C100.

Now the turn signal/ hazard switch. It also runs through C100.

And just to make it more confusing apparently a wire from fuse 7 in the PDC also runs through C100. Now as far as I know l, but I could be wrong, the connectors in auto wiring are each a different number so there should not be two C100 connectors.

Weyerd - You deserve a metal for all those posts you made. Thank you but I want to announce that I finally had success today. I fixed one headlight!!!!!!!!! on the driver's side. First let me tell you how it happened.

I started out checking for voltage at the ugly large connector under the air filter box, the one I've never been able to pull apart. There was one wire with voltage going in, on the feed side but nothing coming out. I decided to snip this wire and run a jumper from it to the hi-beam connector. In doing this, I started to removed the bulb connector but before I had it all the way off, the bulb lit up. I was dumb-founded. All this effort expended and all it was, was corrosion between the connector and the bulb contacts. After sanding down those bulb contacts, the left high beam is working perfectly.

Hold on!!! The right side is still out though and it doesn't seem to be the same problem. It appears that there are separate power wires going to the left and right hi-beams and I'm thinking that the wire I sniped is the one that supplies power to the right side. Tomorrow I will have at it again to see if I am right by running a new wire over to the right high beam. It might even be Weds. before I can do this because the Mrs. has a doctor appointment. Live and learn is the old saying and another one is "check the basics first" which I should have done but didn't. I think someone even recommended checking the bulb connector back on a previous post but I must have dismissed it as not being very important. Shame on me.

Waynerd, that was you on post #63. If I had payed more attention, this was the fix for one of the hi-beams.

No problem. Glad it's figured out. There is a red wire and a red with orange stripe. Forget which wire goes to which side.

You are correct. I think it is the latter one that I am dealing with now and hoping that if I splice it back in by by-passing the ugly connector, this will get the right hi-beam working. Many thanks to you all.

The good news is that both hi-beams are working now after successfully by-passing the dead wire coming our of the ugly connector. The bad news is that it stalls at idle most of the time and runs rough acting like there is a large vacuum leak but strange as it seems, the check engine light is not on any more. I now believe this is the devil's car.

Ive had bad spark plugs multiple times without the engine on light for a misfire or anything. Also go ahead and start a new thread for those other issues.
