Check make sure you dont have any wiring laying against the header.. it melting can give a smell off, possible your grounding out the 02.

And now you can get a high flow cat, more sound if you have a Flowmaster or other high performance muffler.

After reading that I feel a bit more relieved. I guess if it were an overheating issue I would have lots of other obvious signs, boiling, hissing.

Now my next question is this ... if it is infact a clogged or bad cat. Will I be ok limping it the few miles back home or will I do lots more damage?
if you come to the conclusion that it is in fact a clogged cat then you can just take a hacksaw and cut a inch out of your exhaust in from of the cat, or just take it out and see if it runs better

IDK, if it were me I'd try driving home on it if it was not too far, I'd prolly pop open the hood and drive home like that, (not too fast), and crank the heater on high would also help, hopefully you'll make it home before you get heat stroke.

I just had the exhaust repaired a month or so ago. I wanted to tell him to just replace everything while he was under there but I could only afford a patch between the cat and muffler and the front pipe replaced.

If I had gotten the works it would have been in the 400$ range.

I would love to replace the cat and muffler with nicer things but I think stock is all Ill be able to afford. Unless for some reason something non stock is less expensive.

Well...for now it's just a waiting game. I want to wait till the sun goes down and less cars are on the road. I think its only about 3 miles or so from home.

I REALLY don't want to have to call a tow truck.

Again thanks for all the suggestions.

they're not as expensive as you would think, the one i have is a EQUUS 7262, probably run you around 30 bucks, or at least thats what im finding it for online. I dont know exactly how much was payed for it because my dad had the mechanic install it when he was doing the engine work when we first bought it.

Does it come with the temp sending unit replacement too? I remember hearing somewhere that the temp sending unit for the dummy light and for the gauge are different.

not exactly sure on that, but it may not be, i know some people can just plug up a different gauge cluster and it just plugs straight up with all the same stuff. I went and took a look at how its wired up and its only 3 wires, seems pretty simple. Sorry i cant give you any more info than that, the mechanic my jeep was brought to put it in for free while he was working on the jeep

Cool. I suppose I can make that my next project. As if I don't already have enough projects laying on my living room floor. lol

Stuff that is fairly simple to do I either don't have the time, or I don't have the tools

2 inch budget lift (don't have the tools or the time)
Baja lights
female end of drivers side seat belt (dont have a big enough torx)

Also need to get a new belt for it and work on getting it to quit squealing
