No key light, SKIS issue problem and solution
Hi all, I'm just posting this to share my SKIS issue and the solution to it as I found nothing similar as I bet this is a very uncommon issue. This was on a 2.5TD 1999 XJ.
Problem:
No key light on dash when the ignition is turned on and the engine will not start, not even fire up then die after a few seconds.
Things to check:
Fuses, constant power, ignition power and earths at the SKIS module
My solution:
A capacitor had exploded inside of the SKIS module which had blown the ignition feed trace on the circuit board. A new capacitor and a trace repair later and I had this Jeep running again. It's been passed to about 3 other owners over the past 4 years as a no start project.
