Only filter on a 97 is at the base of the fuel pump ... And the fpr is on the top of the fuel pump.
Result is the same, he's gonna need to pull the assembly.

Right. Seems pretty obvious to me. But considering it's all just hearsay hard to know for certain

OK this is what started this. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/problem-i-havent-seen-answer-198807/ had po whatever "heater circuit failure b0s2" the down stream one. Found a walkthrough for testing the O2S heater circut. It had me check for voltage key on engine off. The walkthrough was just for the O2S and other than I had a problem with the circuit I was left to my own means. Pulled out Jeep service manual turned to sec 8 and started testing every circuit associated with O2S heater. I checked grounds, connectors, isolated parts of the circuit test for continuity then test for voltage towards the battery. Tested relays, bypassed relays test cont then voltage. So testing the whole circuit has been done. I'm hearing everything and I value the knowlage here. Just trying to figure out why withe the key turned on with a fuel pressure tester connected to the fuel rail. The pump did not prime, I had no pressure until my help cranked the engine. As I said the fuel pressure is problem 2 now.

That question has been answered. You need to test for voltage at the pump with ignition on.

will test for voltage in the morning, 60+hrs this week. I did get under the tank and listen when my wife turned on the ignition. If it came on it's real quiet. I am still going to check it in the am though just to make sure. I did notice the wiring harness hanging down gotta put that back up also.

Thumbs up Finally

Finally, a end to this chapter hopefully. I know it's been awhile, but RL kept me from working on my Jeep. I replaced the fuel pump and regulator, from E-bay (Bosh) running at 50 psi again. Long time problem of it acting like it was flooding when punched is gone and time will tell if my O2 lean errors will stay gone. For now anyway I am a HAPPY Camper..
Thanks to all here who posted constructive post a special thanks to CCK who has helped me with several pm's also..
