I found one at a local auto parts place with 105K for $300 with a 6 month warranty and for an additional $300 they warranty it for life, if it ever fails they replace it at no cost to me and pay for the labor to install it.
I don't think I can go wrong with that deal.
Now I have to sell either my Radison Canoe or my Benelli Super Black Eagle 12 gauge in order to get my tranny replaced.

Fark....I wish I could get those prices here. That $300 + $300 for a AW4 is a no-brainer. Lifetime replacement warranty at no extra cost for $300.....

I found a real good deal on a tranny 105k for $300 and for another $300 they warranty it for life. If it ever fails they replace tranny and the cost to install it free. A no brainer.

My suggestion is that the Torque Converter should be replaced at the same time the transmission is replaced.

I never thought about that! why do you think it should it be replaced?
Is that normal protocol when replacing the tranny CCKen?

It's probably full of garbage and debris from the failed trans. If that junk gets into the new trans it could cause it to fail as well. Often a warranty requirement with rebuilt transmissions.

While pondering what Radi said, the transmission oil cooler and its tubes should be flushed as well.
The FSM has a big deal process of doing it but I think if, with both tubes disconnected at the transmission, you apply compressed air, 20-30 psi, to the opening of one tube and allow the fluid in the cooler system to blow out the other tube, it should do it. Unless, of course, the transmission is full of metal, then it would need the FSM type flushing.

I picked up the tranny today $600 for tranny with torque converter and lifetime warranty.
Being installed Wednesday for $640 including new filter and gasket kit and 4 quarts of full synthetic tranny fluid. All in all $1240 and hopefully no hidden surprises once its apart.

There are tons of threads addressing this. The AW4 was designed to use Dexron AFT and the fluid evloved into what is known as Dexron III/Mercon. Early on Chrysler said to use Mercon, or Dexron if Mercon was not available, but this was a money thing I think. Mercon was a Ford ATF and Dexron was a GM ATF. I think Chrysler was in bed with Ford at the time.
Chrysler came out with a bulletin that said to use ATF+4 in all their transmissions, including the AW4, but that was BS. It is speculated that this move was just to standardize the ATF used in their dealershp service centers.
Mind you, some folks do use ATF+4 in their AW4 transmissions, but it is not recommended because ATF+4 has been known to cause slippage.
So...why not stay with the ATF that the transmission was designed to use (by Asin), i.e., Dexron III/Mercon.

Ok I spoke to the tranny shop and ask what fluid are you putting in the tranny when you install it?
His answer was "Chrysler recommends ATF+4 in all there transmissions, However you have an asia warner tranny which requires Dextron / Mercon 3 and that is what I will be using"
My response was Nuff Said.....
Thanks for looking out again guys, I appreciate it.
