Normal Operating Temp?
Hey guys, I have an 01 Sport 4.0 in stock form. No lift or anything. Coolant level is full and doesn't lose any at all. I've noticed since I've installed a new fan shroud it is running a little bit cooler- like 200° or less. I've read jeeps like to run best between 200-210. I have a Stant thermostat just can't remember the degrees.
Is this normal or should it be a little warmer? It's 15-30° here now and after a, 30min drive this is how warm she gets....

That is where mine reads all the time (when warmed up). OBD scan shows 210 degrees. The point is do not trust a 2 bit dash gauge. IR thermometers are not accurate but will give a ballpark. They work better if you paint the target flat black.

I changed water pumps and got new coolant, my temp gauge now says about 150-175, the temp gauge is fairly accurate. On a 1991 cherokee. It wont get any hotter.

According to the FSM, if 160F is reached in X amount of time, a warm-up cycle is counted by the ECU. Likewise, the ECU turns the efan on at 218F. One could presume the normal operating temp "range" to be 160F to 218F. Nowhere in the book is normal operating "temp" referenced........not 195, 200 or 210.
