Totally agree with that statement!
That bazaar front suspension is a classic example. People complain about IFS and yes IFS has a few parts, but none of those weird links running all over controlling the simple solid axle.
My Tundra has IFS, of course, even an electric motor to engage the half shafts. OTOH the XJ spins everything all the time. Gee, wonder why it get 5 mpg less even though it weighs 1000 pounds less.
Weird noises, poor gas mileage, damm I love that XJ.

please explain yourself... what weird links are you referring to? there are only 4 control arms and one trac bar that control the suspension.
as for the gas mileage, 5mpg isn't taken by the front drivetrain always spinning, MAYBE .5-1. the difference is in the overall gearing as well as the fuel injection on the Tundra being miles ahead of the XJ. Swap in a Chevy LS engine in the XJ and I can assure you that the XJ will most likely get better MPG than the Tundra under all conditions, from towing to daily driving

So today I got my gf to back it up as I can make it squeak in reverse. It's defiantly either a u joint on the rear driveshaft or a drum. I'm going to unbolt the rear shaft tomorrow to check the u joints. Maybe I'll just buy a grease gun and grease them all

I put my front driveshaft back on today and greased all the u joints with zerks (all expect the 4 on both shafts by the tcase. Still have a squeak so i'm thinking drums or one of those two rear shaft joints? My brakes work perfectly fine
