Now i need a new Engine for my XJ.
Well the title says it all. I just found out today that my Inline 6 had thrown 2 rods, Both the 5th and 6th piston. I am very very pissed and dont wana even think about it. So now i have to get another 4.0 Inline 6.
Ahhh Oh well i guess crap happens huh.
P.S Dont ever buy an XJ With out it running youll never know whats wrong with it, becuase the person thats selling it to you is lieing out there @ss.

Well get to engine hunting. When I blew my 140K motor up, cheapest thing I could find was a 220k motor for 125.00 bucks. Picked it up and dropped it in, runs better than my other one ever did. One thing about Cherokee's... they're everywhere and parts are cheap.

I've seen a lot of places online that will sell a rebuilt long block for about $1500. That's how I would go because if those two cylinders went my guess would be that others are not far behind.

Salvage yards are a GREAT place to get a new engine.
Plug and play and you're back on the road.
Sure rebuilding or replacing with a reman is nice, but it is expensive and considering what the vehicle is worth, this option can get you upside down financially on that vehicle quickly.
