Default NP 242, Hack n' Tap SYE, Stock Front Shaft

So I plan on doing a SYE on my 2000 4.0, aw4, NP242, 8.25. I have done quite a bit of research but cant find a complete parts list. So I need help to make sure I get what I need here.

1) the rubicon express HNT Is this all I need or what?
http://www.rubiconexpress.com/JeepPa...YE&part=RE1807

2) A spicer part number part #211229x (the part that connects the drivesahft to the hack n tap) or out of 80-83 T-birds, 82-83 continentals, 80-82 Cougar XR-7

3) The driveshaft out of a 4.0 AW4 XJ any year.

Is this i need someone help me out here?

Oh and this is a pretty good write up i just want to start getting parts together.

hey check out this hack n tap set up. for 199.00 you get everything add 20.00 for the drill bit and tap. and i belive 40 for the seal for the OLD 242 case if you have the newer style you dont need it. e-mail them and they will tell you what you need and i think it cost less than the RE kit. since i had a sye drive shaft i just had to buy the yoke, seal, and deill and tap set for my 89 XJ with the 242 t-case it came out to 175.00 with shipping.

the pic is a universal pic your setup may be slightly different.

its worth a look, i have the old style 242 case where i have to remove the tail housing and replace it with a seal kit and the yoke does not look like the one in the pic. alittle shorter. when i finish the work ill post a pic im having the T-case gone over and re sealed before i put it in. i should have the t-case back on monday.

After reading the install instructions that kit looks pretty sketchy looks like you cut of the sahft then put on a slip yoke bolt it on fixed of something and then put the new shaft on idk i could be wrong i will look at it more tomarrow thanks for sharing tho.

that is what you do on a hack n tap what did you think it was

if you don't want to do any cutting the you need a SYE kit

I have a 98 with the np231.. does the RE H&T require cutting the shaft and drill and tapping the center as well? i thought that was on the pre-96 models only

all hack n tap require cutting thats why they call them h&Taps

you can get a SYE kit that has a new output shaft then there is no cutting
but you need to disassemble the TC

hack n tap seems simple enough,, cut, drill and tap
