CBJeeper typically when the torque converter pump seal starts leaking it trickles out the front of the bell hsg at the inspection cover - not necessarily where the bell hsg meats the trans case - sounds like either way your trans needs to come out for some closer inspection

AWG you missed the mark - front of trans leak not back of trans leak

Good pick up

Before I ripped out the trans I would do what I said with the methodical leak detection

trans cooler hoses are a leak fest, same with selector seals (although I think the trans has to come out to do a selector seal)

Thank you. This is getting more puzzling. Yesterday I check the trans fuid level per procedure. After multiple attempts, I conculded that I was seein goil all the way up to the V bend on the stick! The PO may have overfilled the transmission. I was actually also seeing ATF dripping from the dipstick tube as well. I am going to take it down tomy mechanicc and have him drain off the pan and add fresh oil to the correct level. I had no leaks until I drove freeway speeds up grades and really got things to temp.

Could be.

I believe the level should be read "when at operating temp " (its in the FSM)

he probably filled it and check while cold

It expands quite a lot

Probably the 17rr old apprentice did it
