Nss oddity
Hey guys,
90 laredo, 4.0, AT trans....my reverse lights wont work, everything is good, i suspect nss. My question being is there any way to fix it withour having to pull the thing off or am i just looking at a fun 5-6 hours of playtime with it?

Not true at all!! Your problems are a direct result of a NSS that needs to be cleaned. Search the net for a how to step by step guide. A new one cost $200+, which is a waste of money when the old one can be cleaned.

and no. to clean it you need to take it out.

Actually it's usually an internal short of that switch that blows the fuse.

I didn't believe that could be it when I heard about it a year ago. I so doubted it that I went out to the garage and removed the fuse and checked to verify it.
Keep the Power/Comfort switch in Power BTW.
Sorry you missed out on all the fun of doing the NSS repair........

i had to buy a new one due to breaking mine when pulling it off (spent 3 hours trying to pull it off with only to find i cracked the case anyway). i went to ebay, spent $40 and got a new nss. anyone that pays $200 is high

Also did you check to make sure the reverse lights are actually coming on now? Or did you just assume because the comfort switch or what ever is lighting up now? My reverse light issue was due to the NSS. Also it should only take an 1.5 hours max to change it out, and that's only if the switch is hard to get off the shaft.

Yea i was curious at first and pulled it out and the fuse was fine, but then i thought "damn that was easy to pull though..."
