I too have learned a bunch just on CF. Sometimes all a vehicle needs is a lil TLC and people are scared to death to even look under the hood. Im lovin this thing now. Ive still got lots of work to do on her but things are lookin good. thanks for the help.

I do know you test them by rapping on the block by it, then listen for a change of the engine sound. The ECU will retard the spark when it "hears" you knocken'.
OH, yes! I would use a JY knock sensor. (Not the CTS or 02 though)

Scored....2 knock sensors with plugins and temp amd 02 plugs. As well as 2 better dome lights and 2 very good seat bottoms. $57 at pull a part

Don't forget to put the shrink tube on the wire before you solder it! For that I might even put a shorter small section, and a longer larger one for double layer shrink wrap. (slide up and heat the smaller first, then shrink the larger/longer over that). Well done!

Yes, splices underneath on something critical like that is a bad idea. It's an analog signal not just a power connection, every little bit matters.
