The universal ones simply don't have the vehicle specific connector for your exact truck, but a generic one. You will have to cut your harness to fit the connector. The vehicle specific ones already have the right connector on them so you don't have to cut and splice.
If you want to make the CEL go off, put a piece of electrical tape over it. Its cheaper and pretty much a slightly less technical way of doing the same thing.

Yeah I've tried the tape thing but it still bugs the hell out of me. Plus I'd like to know if something pops up besides the o2 sensor that I should know about. I rent out my truck sometimes to tourists and it's not exactly the best incentive when you hand them a truck with the CEL on lol. What type of damages can I expect to see?

Also you would need to make sure the universal has the same number of wires (2 or 3 wires i believe for a heated sensor).

Well honestly, its hard to say. If things aren't perfect, as you know, problems can tend to cascade throughout the system. I mean its not going to explode or anything, but it could cause other issues, of which running overly lean could cause overheating problems which if severe enough could damage the engine, or running rich could eventually cause the CAT to clog for real.

I know that was discussed in a thread and the myth was "busted" by someone...
Its not backpressure, its velocity that is the concern. And the cat has nothing to do with velocity.

I always thought that it was backpressure that was the concern.
Then someone smarter in that dept posted what they knew, and I learned a bit more.

The cat is emissions related NOT fuel,

Because of this we are unable to discuss the true facts about cats and their removal.
So plenty of myths get generated by those who just make **** up that they think sounds good.
Keep in mind you are talking on a forum primarily visited by highschool KIDS and immature morons. Sometimes its tough to sift through the garbage to get to the good stuff, but its here. Somewhere.

Hi flow cats can set an erroneous code for cat failure. A down stream simulator cures that issue. An even better option is if you can get access to a tuner is to have the code removed from the ECM.
