Odd door issue,
So I have an odd situation with my drivers door on my 2dr XJ, I been looking to get a new door and just be rid of it but finding one has made me turn to just simply fixing it and just sticking with it since power doors on a 2dr XJ is almost impossible to find.
Here it is....
The door has rubbed a tree or 2, door is probably slight twisted but the main problem I have is it opens and shuts fine if you don't shut it all the way, first click not completely shut. If you shut it all the way you have to open it from the inside. So I know the mechanism is fine but it still doesn't explain why the outside handle doesn't do anything when its fully closed.
I have gone to the extent of taking the outside handle off so I can just push the rod switch down with my finger but even that doesn't allow it to pop open. Only the inside handle will allow it to open when fully closed. I have tried just making my own latch from a cut xj and simulating a closed door and just trying the rod itself to open and it won't let go but yet... you guessed it, the inside door handle works fine.
The weird part is when I partially close it and let it just click once not the full lock the rod feels good and not stuck. I've hosed this latch down, pulled it out, cleaned it, simulated outside of the door and it works great put it back in and right back at it again . I've thought about getting a latch from the JY but needless to say its either the newer style latch or its been already pulled in my area. I have done what I can to try and bring the door back to form and it looks alright for a door that has seen a tree or 2 but still no good.
So what do you guys think?
By the way if you claim to be Jesus and have hiding in your pile of parts a set of 2dr power doors I will bow down and name my first child after you lol

Ya but with a 2 door its not that simple. I am almost of the opinion the latch itself is broken in some way shape or form, possibly even just tweaked slightly to cause full closer to not work.
