The EPA found that valvetrain wear was the #1 source of oil and the zinc compounds getting into the combustion chamber. This is what leads to them getting into the converter and causing issues. No additive will change this.. no matter what they claim....

This type of statement is common marketing strategy called "accept no substitutes". What the marketer tries to do is make a claim that they do something no other product can do or has. Instead of putting forth the hard numbers, they resort to generic statements that you the purchaser would have a hard time quantifying. Ask them how their additive prevents the ZDDP from entering the combustion chamber.

Well...

Wal Mart changes their vendors on these oils so many times, that I wanted to see what I could find.

I found evidence of Warren making some of the Super Tech oils.. but SOPUS making them also. Most of the Warren MSDS were dated '06, with the SOPUS ones dated '07. So it looks like SOPUS might have replaced Warren on most of the blends. There are couple of blends that might have not switched. The Supertech 2000 in 5w-30. 20w-50 and the High Milage 5w-30 that are made by Warren. It might be possible that these are regionally available, or maybe its a switch back to Warren for the lower volume items.

I thought about how to treat this, which is obviously an attempt to slander me. There are obviously other boards where that type of comment would garner a negative response, but I don't frequent them and I am not going to take this board down that road. I offer information and education into lubricant blends and the ways they operate. My signature clearly shows any potential bias my comments may carry, that's because I carry on my business in accordance to the highest ethical principals I can. Not all Amsoil dealers choose to do that, it is my belief that those dealers do by far more harm to our brand's reputation than any product issue could ever cause.

Not to mention I encourage you to follow the example set forth by Zack. If you don't know who he was/is, feel free to contact any member of this board that was here when he still was with us.

Considering that the single best blend for a 4.0l is available at $6.60 a quart...

I dont care how or if it prevents it from entering the combustion chamber, if it has the proper levels of ZDDP Ill use it.

All of the Supertech oil products including full "Synthetic" (Group III), Dino, ATF, etc are marked WPP/WNE in my area. TSC "Traveller" oil is also marked WPP..

The Recommended Amsoil is 6.90 a qt...
Maxlife is what, 4 or 5 a qt or $16 for a 5qt jug.

I honestly dont care what is in it, as long as it wont cause any more wear than the jeep already has. Im not gonna spend 40 bucks on an oil change in a vehicle that already knocks and is on its last legs. Especially when I can barely afford to keep 1/4 tank of gas in it.

If Amsoil really is the single best then you would be willing to send me an OCI worth and make a believer out of me, right?

But of course, this was in my car, soooo....I dont really know if my Jeep will like/tolerate Mobil1 better than my car. But none-the-less, I dont want to take the chances. The oil I'm using is Castrol, the same I use in my car, without problems of any sort.

Edited again:
Whoops...I meant, Im using Castrol Edge, 10w30 in my XJ and 5w30 in my car.
I swapped from con oil to syn, and my first swap used pennzoil platinum full syn-- yeah gonna stop right there. It was crap. Needed about 1 qt every 200 miles. Then, one day, God told me "Try Mobil1 High Mileage 10w30.."

I did, and used a bottle of stop leak from walmart... incredible. I only need 1 qt of oil every 520 miles (only because my valve cover seal is leaking).

With a Jeep, I would totally recommend Mobil 1 High Mileage. Its made for older vehicles, still holds some zinc, and did wonders for me. AND its still full synthetic.
