Default OE Vacuum Reservoir?

I need to get a new vacuum reservoir for my 98 but all I can find are the elliptical ones for 96 and back. I need the spherical one and I can't find it online.

I did find Dorman 47077 but as someone else on this forum posted, that one is much larger than the stock one and they didnt update the thread on wether it bolted in.
Anyone try that part or have a link the OE one?

Also need the vacuum line that comes off the T to the reservoir and I've read something about valves in the line?

These have always worked fine for me. Just like OEM used on many vehicles.

If you're not looking specifically for an OEM equivalent, I used a TJ reservoir because it is rectangular shaped and was easier to mount in the engine bay than the XJ's spherical one.

Because of you i looked under the front bumper of my 01...that reservoir is round as compared to my 92 which was oval. If all you can find is the oval, im sure it will fit, you might have to modify the mounting or it might bolt right in

I stand corrected...just went on ebay for jeep xj vacuum. One guy has the round one for 30 bucks...one mounting bracket in the middle. The oval has 2 mounting brackets, one at each end so it wont just bolt up. I think i just bungied the oval one in one year after my bumper got mushed. I see quadratec has the oval for 10 bucks...for that price, buy it and make it fit

Yea plus depending on how old it it's, it can have up to 3 vacuum line holes and mine only has the 1

What year XJ do you have? That reservoir has two holes for vacuum lines and mine only has 1

You can always just plug one hole..any autoparts store will sella tight fitting cap, or a piece of vacuum line with a screw in it

I was always going to fit the oval one from my '96 to one of my later ones (I'm sure they've all only line connection) 'cos bigger is better, but I'm curious as why Jeep decided that the bigger one wasn't necessary.
