The steering box is one of the things that can be rebuilt, I'd forgotten about the heater matrix being handed (even more weird than the radiator) but I can't imagine replacing one, especially in Oz, but I'm sure I read they can be adapted/modified, & it never occurred to me the evaporator was handed (having never had to find one) but I would've thought there were ways round that..

Arrived in the Uk so quickly and even though the cost of shipping and fees added a chunk onto the price it was still more reasonable than buying here. It was still cheaper with the postage added.

Whilst I’ve been doing the rounds there are a few people selling smaller ticket items on eBay at reasonable prices. They must ship a lot over like jeep Chrysler on eBay etc also Amazon is quite good for being able to order US or EU based items with the costs all included. Learning a lot. Just about to fit all the parts mentioned above. I’ll post some pictures once I’ve carried out the work.

Thanks again
Interesting that our experiences have been so different: RA do sometimes have too good to miss prices but best avoided as can't be trusted to send the right parts. Had a bad experience with Amazon when it was an on-line bookshop, so have avoided it like the plague ever since, unless absolutely desperate.
Just looking at your shopping list (wow, you were unlucky, needing all that stuff at once) my water pump came off eBay: unbelievably cheap, never had need for a fan clutch, but have a spare, bought a pair of Chinese silicon hoses for considerably less than the one I needed, from anywhere (would I do that again? possibly not, although I have no complaints), I was persuaded to get a 'stat when doing the HG, think it came, trade, from local factors (probably still expensive though) I did manage to crack the housing on my 1st XJ but managed to find a s/h one, several bus rides away, at the London Jeep Centre (or some such): price? no idea, but I had to have it - that day! The 1st belt I bought was from an American parts place (didn't know any better then) - it was the wrong one, the 2nd (also for re-assembly after the head gasket) probably from the same factors & the 3rd's still lying on the lounge floor was an impulse buy off eBay, simply because it was only £11 (I think).

Generally, all my stuff (including my current KJ DD & the WJ before that*) comes courtesy of eBay, often from the same couple of suppliers. Only bad mistake was the front discs (i.e. as in disc brakes) for the WJ which developed heat cracks within less than 100 miles - moral: only buy reputable branded brake components.

So, there you have it, 10 years experience of sourcing parts in the UK for 5 Jeeps + a parts XJ only a PM away

* & 4 rads, so you were really unlucky
