My 87 had the factory cassette player in it and the wiring harness was still uncut. The OEM stereo has no plug really, the wires go straight into the side of it. About a foot of cable later, it splits up into two plugs tucked way back in the dash. Hardly anyone seems to sell an adapter for the two-piece harness. Every diagram I found online and every forum post showed different colors. Turns out the colors online are correct for the jeep side of the plug if you look deep down inside. But, the colors change on the stereo side. The factory stereo actually has a wiring diagram on it for the color change. I figured by now most people over the years ended up with a jeep that had a cut stereo side harness. So what I did was cut the stereo side and wired that to my new stereo as to not ruin my harness. Here is a pic of the underside of the factory cassette player. I noticed a lot of threads here had people confused about the power colors because of the change. btw, C ORANGE W/TR "Panel Lamps" is for illumination, and I ended up not using E BLUE "Park Lamps" for anything.
