I've got those in all 3 of the family's Jeeps. Work GREAT!
Do you see a name brand on it?

Don't put it in boiling water. Use a cooking thermometer and bring the heat up gradually (similar to the way coolant heats up inside the motor). This way u can verify the stat's "open temp". By continuing to raise the heat (stat wide open) and then removing the pan from the heat, u can verify how smoothly the stat opens/closes.

Another Update on my MotoRad: temps are stabilizing. I ran it briefly today while about 40* out. Warm up yielded one drop to about 165* and thereafter it stayed between 200* and 185* with minor needle movement.

Refresh me. Got the MotoRad from the dealer or parts store?

No name brand. Just a bunch of numbers. The one that I can read on the flange is SF8952001797. It is stamped "MADE IN USA" on the box.
Oh yea! I'll be doing that.. Coincidentally I have my multimeter with digital thermometer at the stove because my over has been 80deg off! LOL.

Your oven like this? They're not known for their reliability.

Quick question.
Is this fully opened? I've never really saw a thermostat open before. The inside part has moved about 3/16". Since this thermostat is so old, I'd like to verify that it's working properly before putting it in.

Looks just about perfect to me.......+/-1/4" is wide open. It should just barely start to open at it's rated temp and continue to open slowly/smoothly to it's max open position at about +/-15 degrees above it's rated temp. Here's pics of a closed/open 180 stat.

Im glad this thread resurfaced. Would just like to report that the motorad unit I listed pages back works flawlessly now. No fluctuations. In traffic and at stop lights, temps stay just below the 210 mark and may drop slightly as my e-fan conversion cycles on and off. Cruising, it stays at about roughly 185-190. Very pleased.
