Default On and off problems need some help/advice.

I’ve got a 99 cherokee 4.0. I’ve had it for a little over a year now and for the whole year everything went well. Recently I’ve been having some issues. It started off with the jeep shutting off while driving up a buddy’s driveway and wouldnt come back on for a good half hour. After that i seemed to be having problems with the jeep shifting into gears and it seemed like i’d be hitting the gas and it didn’t want to go anywhere. So i replace the crank position sensor, neutral safety switch and the TCU for a few weeks i had no issues. Then the jeep started having issues with it shutting off while i was driving but now it was almost every minute and it would start right back up. So now I do a whole tune up because the spark plugs were worn down and i thought that could be the reason. That has seemed to fix that issue. Right when i get that squared away the issue with the jeep not wanting to shift correctly comes back. I looked on what felt like a million different searches and found a few things, so i replace a Coolant temp sensor because i had an engine code for it and i adjust the throttle valve cable and didn’t really expect anything but figured anything’s worth a shot. The problem has seemed to be gone for the past 3 days but i don’t necessarily trust it considering it’s been on and off problems for the past few weeks. I have ordered a PCM to try and cover my bases. If ANYONE has any insight or and advice they could throw my way it would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Any and all grounds. Battery to body, battery to engine being the main ones. Don't just look at ground connections, clean them up and apply some form of grease, dielectric being the best suited.

So you don't anything in any gear selection? 1-2 and R should manually force the transmission into gear. Have you checked the auto fluid level? If you don't know, this should be done with it hot after about 15 miles of driving but you can't do that. You can take a cold reading (I believe the dip stick has a cold level marking) but you need to put it through each gear selection a couple of times from P to 1-2 back to P. The Jeep also needs to be on a flat level surface for an accurate reading.

When i shift into anything other than Park it just rolls and seems like it’s just not going into gear. But the problem seems like it’s electrical to me just because it’s on and off, it drives perfectly fine for a few days and then does stuff like this , then i replace something and it seems fixed and does it again.
