Default oil dripping fast out of dipstick tube .. high rpms ?????

something to worry about?

93 xj .. just broke 250k miles odometer .. engine somewhat rebuillt .. before I bought it .. not sure what was rebuilt or when .. or a complete lie from seller .. it does run good

last few mountain trips .. on highway .. goin up I70 west of Denver

steep climb (lookout mtn / floyd hill areas)

high rpms .. doin 55 mph .. visible smoke cloud of oil dripping / burning off exhaust .. yes thats the source of smoke .. checked it close

whatcha think?

I got new dipstick .. but drove like a grandma last time .. low rpm .. no drip

So, oil is coming out of the dipstick tube?? It's not overfilled is it?

is it possible the engine isnt ventilating properly? And so the pressure is forcing itself out through the oil dipstick?

Hmm... Good thought. I suppose a seriously clogged pcv system could cause this. Seems like that would also cause oil to get on the combustion chamber and make it burn oil...

The pcv valve is very easy and cheap to change

the oil filter adapter o-rings are infamous for drying out and causing leaks. Could be that it's leaking oil here and dripping on the exhaust...

How's your oil pressure when driving/idle?

its def coming from dipstick .. oil all over cooling hoses / heater valve .. above filter

no oil pressure gauge .. base dashboard .. no temp / no oil press. .. another to do list .. gauges

I'm no master mechanic, just a guy who loves jeeps, but it sounds like you have excessive crankcase pressure that is causing the oil to come back out the dipstick tube. At least it's blowing that pressure out there and not some other seal...

auto parts stores.. never heard of that either

previous owner was neglectful .. I flushed cooling system 4 times in 2 years .. still a bit dirty .. doin next 1 before winter

there is a bit of oil .. now & then in airbox / filter .. not much .. but shows up on mountain runs

need to clean up pcv/ccv i think

That would be my first step too. Hopefully it's a cheap and easy fix

Is front hole in valve plugged off ? Is the rear hose showing vacuum when running ? If crankcase cant vent pressure its gonna go out dip stick tube.
