OK then what is the best to use on 90 RENIX with over 200.000 on the engine? When i first got my XJ i put some Z-MAX in with my oil too.

For Renix:
Napa 51626 is a standard 1/2qt filter made by wix, of course.
Napa 51324 is an oversize filter (1qt, or close to it).
HO:
I use napa silver 21085, which is the exact same thing as the Mopar m-090, just about 2$ cheaper.
You can also use a motorcraft fl-1a for a 1qt cap. oversized filter.

Fram has a bad reputation because the seals on some of them failed and dropped all the oil on the road/trail/track. I haven't heard of anything happening with them recently, but that doesn't mean that I am putting a FRAM filter on any of my rigs ever.
MOPAR filters are oversized as well, a little spendy but worth knowing you have a bit more oil capacity is worth that.
The more important question is, other than Royal Purple (Considered a racing oil so it still has high levels of Zinc), what Zinc Additive are you using for your flat tappet cam and is it fouling out your Catalytic Converter? Hyper Lube Zinc replacement is said to work 2x better than a Zinc additive, but it is NOT recommended for engine break in. (This is directly from a company rep via a phone call I had the other day.) All "real" Zinc additives will eventually foul out your Cat and cost you some decent money to R&R it.
If you are not running a Zinc replacement/additive then you might as well start saving for a new motor, 4.0's in the TJ's are failing at the 100k mile mark partially because of no zinc.

A guy on youtube has a whole series on oil filters so you can see for yourself the internals.
The one Fram he cut open has very basic construction compared to others. The video shows how the construction could fail, leaving a hole in the internal filter so you oil would not be filtered.
There were a few other brands with similar construction/problems to Fram, and even one car manufacturer that re-badges Fram filters for OEM use.
Check out the videos -- I'm sure you'll be buying a better filter next time.

Amsoil filter / Amsoil lubricants...I bought my 88 knocking with over 300k on it. I have over a year or two wheeling it, just waitng to see how long it lasts. It idles all day at about 0psi when warm. about 25lbs when on the floor. Its a $400 trail rig i took 2 jeeps to make 1 hard to wheel any cheaper than that, i just sounds bad when i first start it..hahaha

About twenty years ago while I was working at an auto parts store a sales rep from
Wix came in and wanted to sell his line in our store. He gave me two new Wix oil filter. and asked me to install in on the delivery truck when it was time for a change BUT he asked me not to change the oil, only the filter. He said to drive the truck for 100 miles and then check the oil. Well, the oil was black and dirty when I chenged the filter but when I looked at the dip stick I could not beleave it. The oil was clear.
I changed the oil and filter at 2000 miles the oil was still fairly clean.
Now Wix is the only oil filter I use.
