if it's not making any unusual noises I'd say yes it's ok, but if you hear a lot of valve train noise than you've got a pressure problem

The valve train will be very noticable with no oil pressure. The sending unit is a common thing to go bad and only takes 5 minutes to replace.

Personally I would verify the oil pressure with a mechanical pressure gauge. Like the others have said more then likely it's your oil pressure sending unit. But normally when the go bad they will read high or it will max out. It may be as simple as having to remove the sending unit and clean out the ports in the sending unit and the hole that it it goes to.

You will get a little to spill out but not a whole lot. Just put a few rags around it and if you want to you can toss an oil pan under it. But like I said there won't be a whole lot.

Just a tiny bit, like a dribble. Most of the already small amount will get on the block.

Either your wiring is gone or your OPSU is shot. ACTUAL 0 oil pressure from an engine or filter failure is extremely evident as your engine will be making all kinds of noise from lack of lubrication.

Now would be a good time to ask what kind of oil filter is on there?

If what you're saying is that the gauge shows zero at startup then goes normal, I'd say that is a non-problem.

Yeah. Now at startup, it's on zero for a few seconds, the check gauge light is on, then gauge goes to about half and light goes off
