Oil leak?
Hey all,
Looking for some help. Bought a 1995 XJ for cheap. Replaced rear main seal, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, oil sending unit, oil filter adapter O-Rings, thermostat housing and gasket, distributor and gasket, transmission filter and gasket, shifter shaft gasket.
I'm still finding a slow leak driver's side running down the bell housing. Takes a couple days before what appears to be oil comes all the way down. Sprayed degreaser and cleaned up the area to see the oil trails better. Any ideas?

When you mention oil filter O-rings, is it the oil filter adapter that you changed the o-rings on?
Also when you changed out the rear main seal, did you replace the oil pan gasket?
What brand of gaskets did you use?

Yes it was the oil filter adapter O-Rings. The one that comes in contact with the block and the two internal ones.

I did replace the oil pan gasket also. I will add that to my original post.
What brand of gaskets did you use?
They were all Fel-Pro.

If the valve cover gasket and oil pan are torqued correctly, then you may have to get some ultraviolet oil additive and use a black light to trace it. Make sure you clean the engine and bellhousing as clean as you can get it before adding the UV additive. A black light and the additive are relatively cheap.
As another thought, which I just experienced, the High Pressure Power Steering line began to leak a little and it would shoot power steering fluid along the engine and because of the angle the engine sits, I had a drip from the bottom of the bellhousing...
+1 on Fel Pro
hope this helps
