Haven't fixed it yet because I'm waiting for my next oil change ( it's not a bad leak) but its coming from the rear of the oil pan gasket or the rms. to replace the rms I'd have to take the oil pan off so mise well replace that gasket and have it definitely stop leaking.

To replace the RMS you have to drop the trans. and T-case. It is a PITA

On the 2.5, yes. 4.0, no.

Sorry don' know why I was thinking that the 4.0 had a one piece seal. Oh well....disreguard my previous statement. If it has a two piece why the hell dose everyone act like its a big ordeal? Drop the pan and push er out!

It's not a big deal. Except of course when it's misdiagnosed and it's not the true source of your leak..............

Because most people think they need to drop the trans to do it and it freaks them out.

Thank goodness a basic grasp of the English vernacular isn't a requirement to work on these things, right!? lol

OP, after sifting through this thread, the best advice I can give you is this:

It's the internet. Take from it what you need. You may or may not like how people deliver their responses, but those may responses may be the most useful to you. Stop replying to every single comment on your age, and extract from this thread what you need. 54 most definitely knows his stuff. I've done 3/4ths of the work on my XJ based on his posts alone.

It's great that you're starting this young and doing things yourself. I'm 30 and I wish I'd done the same thing when I was your age, I'd be a lot richer now lol. Just take a breather and remember that we are all here for the same purpose. We love Jeeps!

What ended up being the problem? Maybe I just can't read and missed it, but I didn't see any mention of it.
