A lot of 4.0s leak oil. It has no relation to the internal pressure. That sensor is a reflection of bearing health when working properly. Get the tester gauge.

I would go to Oreillys/auto zone and get the cheapest manual oil pressure gauge and hook it up to see what your actual pressure is. If your pressure is good when idling, driving, pulling hills then your pressure sending unit is bad. If you have low pressure when idling or driving then I would recommend putting a new oil pump and new rod and main bearings while I had the pan off. Then you should have great oil pressure again. If you let it go too long then your upper end will be starved for oil and will just get progressively worse! Had this happen to me first hand!

make sure ur engine is at running temp aka ur thermostat has kicked over. another thing that shows a bad oil pressure sending unit is if there is oil in the coneector.
