Default Oil pan bolts stripped

The front 4 are stripped. Gonna tab them tomorrow. If that the best option for me?

Timesert or Helicoil if you want to use the original thread dimensions.

I think he meant "tap". A "shade-tree' trick for a small screw, cut a strip of "shim stock" (which you won't find). With wood, we can shove more wood in the hole, then the screw holds.

Short of drilling and taping to the next size, just putting something in there to take up space for (fresh , new threads), might get it to grip.

Ever heard of the paper clip trick? Take a paper clip and straighten it out. Stick it into the hole off to one side. Take the original size fastener and shove it in and tighten it up. Guy at a tranny shop taught me that and I used it on my son-in-law's Dakota trans.

Looks like your brother anotherdayriden has decided to take a break from posting about his $3000 street ornament.

Helicoils work great for this, and it's a repair that will last.

Sort of what I was getting at. Since most can't just get some "shim stock" I was thinking of narrow strips of "beverage" can.

I HAVE heard of paper clips. Can you get those online? Are they metric, or SAE? Sounds worth looking into....

Basic question: If you tap the busted off bolts, why does this increase the bolt hole? Why are you tapping? Can you try to use a screw extractor first?

When you mess up threads you have to make a new larger hole to re-establish good threads... google it
