New Process transfer cases were molded for GM as well as for Chrysler and the GM cases used a big hex plug and a gasket for fill and drain. Chrysler cases use a 1/2" pipe plug which is 10mm internal hex and are flush when installed. It's possible a 231 could be assembled in a GM case if they had a large overstock of those case halves. The front half of the case is different for GM. Mainly bolt pattern.
