Default oil pressure

The oil pressure on 00 Cherokee is oil like 10 above what it normally is. So it's 50. Sometimes it goes up to 80. Is it because of the oil pressure sender switch? Ideas?

It does sound like you oil pressure sending unit is going bad or it is starting to get plugged up.

How would I do about fixing it? New sending unit?

Some time if it is getting plugged you can clean out the little orifice with a tube cleaner. If it doesn't look like it's plugged you should just replace it. If you do replace it, Get one from the dealer. They are more accurate then what you will get from a parts store.

Not a problem! It is located just above your oil filter.

It plugs into the engine block. One wire coming out the back of it. Use an adjustable wrench to remove it.

Sorry to thread jack, but i'm having an issue with mine as well. when i turn the power on with the engine off the guage jumps up and holds at about 10. while at idle its between 40 and 50 and on the gas it jumps up to about 60. last night after about 30 minutes of doing about 65-70mph it dropped down to 30 at idle, but would jump up to 60 while on the gas. any thought?
