So true! I say if they don't want to help us help them, Let them keep throwing parts at it and when they still have the same problem they can cry to someone else about how they are now broke and still don't have there vehicle running

Run Valvolene Synpower full synthetic 10w30. The shear, grind and other motor oil tests were only slightly less than Lucas oil synthetic which can be 3x the price. I switched and not only don't worry about the typical low oil pressure that mine and 2 other siblings have but gainer back some power and eventually got 19.5mpg hwy. Ps I have 320k+ on my odometer.

But, you know....no closure on this thread, I cant life like that...it...it needs to stop...all the open ends, the..." I dont know how it ended"....the emptiness when you come to the last post that suggests not being the end...its....I mean...the times I log into CF, craving for the answers in the threads that I subscribed into, the potential of answers to XJ life question, the how's and why's....no,.. no more open ends.

It is a Fram cheapo filter that I have been running for 12 years. PH16.
I didn't clean out the hole in the block itself. I thought you were saying clean out the hole in the sending unit that I had just replaced. I have had to replace two on my other jeep, so that was my first thought as to why it was suddenly doing this. As that had no effect, I am obviously digging deeper.
I appreciate this forum and the vast experience here.
The oil pump will be here today, but I don't want to replace it as I have other pressing items to do. I will, however, run a brass brush up in that hole and report back. .22 cal or .30?

Oil sender hole. Ziptie works. Put a Napa Gold filter on and leave the oil you've got in there. See what happens.

Unless you particularly enjoy replacing oil pumps in Jeeps, I suggest you get the engine nice and hot and measure the pressure using a mechanical gauge. Also, make sure you keep the receipt for that oil pump since you'll most probably will be returning it.

Damn Fram...GET RID OF IT!! replacing oil pump will be a crap shoot at best, don't get your hopes up. To make your efforts worthwhile inspect the bearings while you have the pan off.

Before you do anything drastic, take that POS out, take a hammer and beat the **** out of it. Then, have a nice cold beer and put a decent filter in there. NAPA Gold is a good option.
Unless you particularly enjoy replacing oil pumps in Jeeps, I suggest you get the engine nice and hot and measure the pressure using a mechanical gauge. Also, make sure you keep the receipt for that oil pump since you'll most probably will be returning it.

I'm not sure, but I gather that you are not a fan of the cheapest oil filter made?
I took the OSU off and cleaned the hole with some carb spray and ran the tube down into the passage. Inspected it with a mirror and it was/is clean.
Scratching my head this morning, I realized that I had a gauge for my compressor, so I taped it up and screwed it in. at start it reads 30psi.
Replaced the sending unit and it reads 30 psi as well.
I'd much rather spend the $10 on the NAPA than replace the pump, if that is really what y'all think. Even if it doesnt' work, I'm still putting on a better filter.
