Oil Pressure Drops-Engine Smokes-Jeep Stalls
Hello,
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport. It was stolen, we got it back and we're trying to figure out what happened while it was stolen.
After it's warmed up:
1-The oil pressure drops at idle
2-The RPMs drop to 500-750
3-The engine smokes but can't find an oil leak
4-Then it dies
We have replaced:
The oil sending unit
Have blown out the oil sending valve
Have replaced the spark plugs and the coil rail
Have replaced the valve cover gaskets
Have replaced the fuel injector heat shields
Have changed the oil & filter
Have checked for vacuum leaks
Have replaced the air filter
Have completely cleaned the engine
Have replaced the battery and terminals

Do a compression test before you throw any more fixes at it. Let us know what your numbers are.
Also, please explain what you mean by, "the engine smokes". Are you talking about smoke out of the exhaust? Or directly from the engine? If so, where?
It's too soon to say for sure, but I suspect you are going to be needing an engine.
