You are wrong. If more oil flowed out closer to the pump, more oil also flowed out farther from the pump. Geez, that's high school physics on planet Earth.
It's not always like this. You are forgetting that oil is a non Newtonian fluid and doesn't respond to Newtons law. Assuming the pressure to be constant then you would be right because the higher flow of the leak near to the pump would be compensated by a higher total flow from the pump, holding the oil pressure constant in the area farther from the pump. In reality the non Newtonian fluids respond to the Reynolds number that puts in relationship inertia forces with dynamic viscosity, fluid properties are very dependable from its viscosity. If you have a big leak near the pump there will be a bigger leaking section that the oil viscosity will find easier to adapt to and therefore prefer to leak there unproportionally respect to the further away leaks. This translates in a pressure drop just after the big leak and therefore you will have less flow further away.
Things may be completely different when the oil warms up, and everything depends A LOT from engine RPMs. There are many parameters to consider.

I gave up listening to this a while ago, didn't ask if these guys wanted to see who is most intelligent, just a simple question on oil pump. Update... it still humming along happily, put in a new pan gasket again after the first wouln't seal, with some permatex, she sealed up pretty well. leaks a little in the rear now, but oh well carry some in the truck with you, my answer. Kid should still be saving for amotor, but knowing how they think, I'd bet not. that won't be my problem tho. Time to learn for himself.
