Default Oil Question

So due to getting older...I cannot remember if I used Synthetic oil the last time it was changed. I purchased conventional.....So any ideas? Should I go synthetic or gamble with conventional and risk it? I have been told you cannot mix and it will blow the motor! Help

You can mix them, so don't worry. After all, what is semi-synth oil?

Synthetic does last longer though...

Mixing, wont blow the motor.
Both modern conventionals and synthetics are very good.

For some good info check this site............

you can mix syn. and petroleum oil (although i wouldnt), just use the same weight. on high mileage engines, you may burn some oil, and or produce leaks. the synthetic will somewhat clean the deposits that the petro. has produced over the years. if switching to syn. it is recommended to run a bottle of flush before changing. also most off the shelf filters only filter's like 40 microns, if you use an amsoil, or another synthetic brand filter, they will filter to as low as 10 microns.

on another note, does anyone know of any filter brands causing low oil pressure?? or know the best filter to run.

I run an oversized oil filter. Turns out it is the same filter for my old 93 Ford Ranger 2.3l 4cyl (glad I unloaded that dog...reliable old yeller).

Wix part number 51515
Napa 1515

I prefer the napa/wix filter myself. My oil pressure is right were it ought to be, but never varied when running other filters.

Check out the dissections I did for my motorcycle.
