I just bought the jeep and got it home when I went to pop the hood.
I pulled the latch and "pop" it came right off the cable.
Not a big deal, I ran down to the auto store and bought a new assembly for $50.
I took the old bracket off and trimmed the cable cover back a bit to expose the cable strands then was able to pull on them with some pliers to pop the hood.
I'm hoping to be able to tape the new to the old and just pull it through but that sounds way too easy.
