They're actually balding on the 'outside'. Would it be the same possible problems??

Do you make quick sharp turns? or go fast on on/off ramps? that could cause something similar.

 

The Jeep sees mostly city driving but I don't make quick sharp turns. I tend to gun it on on ramps but slow on off ramps when I do take the freeways.

 

Camber issue, have you checked the front suspension components?

 

What should I check?? I was told there is no camber adjustment since it's a solid front axle. I thought there was just toe adjustment.

 

Have you lifted it recently? (without alignment?) if you raised it 3" it will be towed in approx 1/2"

 

It's stock for now 'till next year. But that doesn't stop me from wheeling.

 

What happened? Once I put that my XJ is still stock, I no longer get any responses? That's not cool.

 

^ X2, your coils/shocks are probably worn out and are causing the tires to lean in making the tread on the inside of the tires are worn more then the rest of the tires. Go to an alignment shop and get it checked out. It also could be a tie rod problem thats making the wheels turn outward. If the tire has a feathered edge its tie rods. If its smooth then its your shocks/coils.

worn shocks or coils have nothing to do with it. cherokees are not ifs

 

I am aware. But if they have gone bad they can cause premature wear.

 

your coils and shocks do not control camber. camber change in an xj would be from bad ball joints, bent inner cs or a bent axle tube

 

Either way it can make your tires wear and make a costly repair just because something was overlooked on the last inspection.
