Listen im just going off what i was told by a mechanic/what i leanred about tie rods/Allignment. If im wrong then that is my fault. I was just trying to give the guy some things to look for.

 

not helping him by giving the wrong advice. your sending him on a wild goose chase. tie rods and tre's conrol toe only and thats what he needs to check.

 

Sorry for trying to help. You're right, I was going off what i was told by a mechanic at a stealership about the front shocks and coils, dont plan on listening to them for any advice.

 

To check and adjust toe is really easy. Get a tape measure, and measure the distance between the front of the tires and the rear of the tires. Front of the tires should be approx 3/16" to 1/4" closer than the rear of the tires.
To adjust, lift the tires off the ground loosen the TRE's and adjust it as necessary. Lower wheels on the ground and measure again. If it is good, then tighten up the TREs and you are good to go.

i would measure seem to seem on tires. there can be to much of a difference in sidewall between the tires

 

Man, I must say.....everyone here is very helpful on giving me ideas on what to look for. Everyone is mentioning things I never even thought of looking at. I do see worn and some loose stuff. Even my steering stabilizer looks worn and loose. Might explain why my XJ drifts from side to side when the steering has not moved. Sometimes my XJ slowly starts drifting to one side and I steer the opposite way, it still drifts a little more than it starts going straight than I gotta turn the wheel straight again. Very annoying.
