How were you able to determine that part of your computer had gone bad?

I know that on some vehicles you can actually get a lower actuating selnoid that tells the fans when to kick on. Does anyone know if these are available for jeeps?

My dad is an electrical engineer, so he did most of the tracing. From what I can remember we had the truck running, and probed around to find where power was getting to with a multimeter. We found that power was getting to the computer, but not getting past it to the to the fan connection. we found the wires coming directly out of the computer and didn't find power there either. So I just replaced the computer, and now the fan kicks on by its self

Even with the both fans turned off the belt will bring up enough water, and dirt to get everything nice and dirty... trust me lol

run a 2 wire thermo switch to control the relay ground. one wire comes from relay to thermo switch, then run the other wire to a cabin switch, then to ground. That way it will run when needed to becasue of the thermo switch but you will still have control to shut it off.

The reason for doing this is not to keep water from flingin up it is to keep fans from exploding. All the drag from the fans being under water makes the fans work to hard tring to push the water and will burn up the motors

I'm probably fine. Just a little paranoid. this is my first jeep and want to head potential problems off before they become big problems.

I am right there with you. I been doing the same thing since I bought mine a few months ago. Always searching for ways to make it run smoother. This weekend I plan on cleaning the throttle body out, changing spark plugs and seafoam the gas tank. I am hoping that will help it idle a little better.

I wish I could get mine to run around 210 on a cool day lol. I wouldn't worry too much.

Thumbs up

I own a '88 XJ and a '99WJ, I have buddies that own the same types of vehicles. They all run around 210 degrees. You will only have a problem when the aux fan doesn't keep the temperature at or below 210!
