So here is the latest. The engine runs great but it has a noise from the valve train. I thought I could salvage the old head but when it overheated I must have bent or damaged something in the top end. Looks like a new head is in the works after all. Looking to get the 0331 replacement head with the built up critical areas and also remachined to accept the larger gm intake and exhaust. Flow rating appear good so it should be a plus. Going to check oil pressure with a mechanical guage since my "classic" came with an idiot light. (Cluster replacement on my list). Now that we are semi settled in, time to get back after it.

So the new water pump is assembled and ready for installation but I'm going to wait until I put the cylinder head on. Waiting on the new severe duty gasket on going to install. Ordered a new high-speed multi-blade electric fan to replace the stock AC condenser fan. Hopefully all the parts will be here by the end of the week so I can start reassembly on Saturday

I just went through something similar to what you're are going through. Here my thread. Maybe you can find some useful information there. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/90-...y-91-a-181505/
