I like the clean look of it and almost didnt see it until about the 3rd pic.
I have seen "cold air intakes" for wranglers that go over the valve cover. This would put it closer to the hole and would save on all the hose and would give the air a more direct route. Only thing would be getting the box on that side. Just an idea for a future upgrade maybe.. I still think it looks good and if your XJ was olive drab or camo it would really fit the military look.

That's what my buddy said too. I plan to get this thing scratched up to the point that it's butt ugly and then paint it olive drab like OverlandXJ's jeep.

It wouldn't let me. A combination of the wiper motor and hood hinge blocked access to that part of the cowl. if I used 2" hose then maybe I could have but then i'd be suffocating my motor with a smaller intake. I also heard that blocking the inspection stickers was illegal.

well question is def answered lol thanks, oh and Im def doing this next time I get paid so I may be asking alot of questions here in a bit cuz the pic of the parts list is awesome but Ill be a copy cat and just go with what you did since its tried and true lol and Id rather go into home depot with a list of sizes and parts rather then wondering the store lol

I actually like that a lot! I am thinking of doing something like that with mine eventually, after I get everything else I have planned done. I don't plan on driving through lakes or anything, but I like the idea of having a source of cooler fresh air coming in.

The dryer duct and those two 3" silver adapters were found in ducting area.
The cereal bowl was found in my cabinet, not too sure where to find them now.
The white snorkel pvc cap was found at my local hardware store. I THINK lowes or home depot might have the same thing. It's a 6" pvc cap.
The two 90 degree angled fittings were found with all the pvc pipe parts.
I got the Ace circular saw at my hardware store too.
I had a 6 ft piece of 3" pvc pipe that I had laying around and I used that here and there for the connection to the air box and also for the piece that's bolted to the snorkel cap (cereal bowl). This can be had at Home depot at whatever length you need. 1 foot of it is enough for this mod.
The crankcase ventilation hose was from Advance Auto Parts store.
I used canned rtv, which was easier to work with and got it at Advance too.
The inspection cat was free.
I can't remember all the prices for this stuff but all the parts were less than $60, not including the circular saw and rtv.
