I thought that it was the only gel battery offered?

and i have had the same duralast gold pushing 2- 12" jl's and a old school rockford 1000 for 6 years...point? the problem i see with optima batteries (i've owned both a yellow top and red top) is if they sit for awhile or have any kind of drain on them the are junk afterwards. even if your in your driveway cleaning out your car with the stereo on for awhile. its doesn't take to recharging very well. i've meet a few people that have luck with them (and i mean very few) and i know from personal experience and from most the people that have tried optima batteries. that they don't perform as well as a wetcell battery, don't last as long and are more expensive. i have yet to see a wetcell explode so that arguement is out the window. i would however like to hear a arguement that doesn't involve systems and offroad lights that explains why a drycell is better than a wet.

thats what I thought too.
I run an AC delco battery and I have nothing but good things to say about it.
It was what? 100 bucks I think, as compared to an optima which is like 200 if i recall. I have had a ton of guy's optimas crap out on them after a year. I personally wouldnt touch an optima unless someone paid me to.

I've had good luck with my red top. I bought it 4+yrs ago for my 2000 Eclipse.
Drove it for a year and lost the car in a flood (left it with the lights on, the car was
washed out from under me). Pulled the battery at the salvage yard, took it home and
charged it and drove for 2 more years til my alt died. Drove it forty miles back home,
with everything turned off, replaced the alt and still using it today.

Do research on the "top 5 car batteries"

Buy one of the top 1-3.

Interstate makes high quality batteries.

You have to charge them with way more amperage than normal. Instead of trickle charging like a 'regular' battery, you would set your charger on boost for 2-3 hours. Thats right from a customer service rep...

they also have special ways to charge them if you dont have a boost charger you have to put them in parallel with a charged battery and then hook it up to a charger. or buy there chargers that are specifically designed for optima's and give you trouble codes for them

not sure, haven't bought on in awhile , im glad for all you optima fanboy's. if you want to spend more money for a inferior product, thats up to you. as i said before, i have tried buying a optima twice, both times got crappy costumer service and had a battery that way shot in less than a year. i won't go that way again or recommend anyone to either.
