Slick should get a gold star. Wait, best picture.....I redid my map sensor line today. Nice to have the little ridged tube for fitting to the rubber connectors at both ends. Regular vac line can connect in between, if you need.

Thanks bud. Ya mine was cracked so I used two pieces of vacuum line as connectors between the rigid lines and a piece of the rigid line in the middle. It is metered so I guess you have to be careful of the size and length of the line (as I understand. Don't quote me cause it doesn't sound quite right to me but its what I've heard)

My "Z" piece against the firewall hasn't crumbled yet. I heated and bent a piece for an "L" into the throttle body. (at the kitchen stove). I didn't think the broken stub would come out of the rubber throttle body plug at first, used an extractor.

Metered, really. So I wonder if it sucks some air in at the MAP. Otherwise I would think it would be static. Maybe cruiser or someone can fill in.

Map sensor makes a huge differance. It tells the brain what kind of load the engine is under. I.E no vacume tells the computer to flow alot of fuel. It will stink. If you smell raw fuel check all injectors on the fuel rail side. Side note just change old injectors on my 88 to multiport. Gained 4 miles to the gallon and pulled a long 7% grade 15 mph faster.Got the from precision for less the $100 . Huge differance.

It's not metered. The CCV system is though.

I think it might be pointless to start looking into your injectors before you have a functioning MAP sensor hooked up. You can search "noid light".

And thank-you bobt. (is that pronounced Bobbitt?) That swap should be next on my list.

(injectors, that is).

Thought it was something about the volume of air making a difference or the size of the tube..... misinformation?

>>>If you smell raw fuel check all injectors on the fuel rail side.<<<

X2.....Like bobt suggests you can take a close look for leaking around the injectors. Actually testing them should wait until you have the Map hooked up.

Slick, I can only offer, (from physics), that with, (virtually) no flow, the size of the tube won't change the pressure to the sensor. If it where "dynamic"/flowing, yea, of course a small tube would slow it down and restrict volume and pressure. (what we call "vacuum" is really just less pressure than ambient") Ambient air pressure at sea level is 14.7 psi. It looks like the nature of the MAP would mean that it also corrects for lower pressure at higher altitude.

So the map was in the top hole on the throttle bottom so I moved it to the bottom and it seemed to help. Unfortunently on the test drive I broke the u joint on the driveshaft and im pretty sure the bracket on the differ too.

VERIFY that you have vacuum to the MAP sensor.

Sounds like you need to do some inspection all over this Jeep before driving it much. You'll be money ahead.

My jeep runs and drives. I don't know what the p.o. did. I know it was nothing good. For that reason I am replacing and/or modifying damn near every part on the thing. Point is when you start finding things that have been assembled wrong or modified for the worse you really need to look your jeep over.

With the engine running, unplug it from the MAP. Feel vacuum on your finger if you hold it over the end of the unplugged hose?
